All ideas are welcome. Just because the Idea doesn't make it into the product immediately does not make it a bad idea.
This was discovered at Dimension Data using DSMA version 6.2
If there is an order by clause in a view, it gets picked up and put in the Order By field in DSMA. If that field isn't in the view results, there is an error when generating the report (but not when viewing it).
In addition, if there is an order by field which is the same as the segment by field, the order by is applied twice and throws an error.
Order by logic should be revised to avoid these issues and to make the reports consistent when running in background (process), or foreground (view).
Business Case - These fields should operate correctly. When they don't, debugging the problem is wasted resources.
