All ideas are welcome. Just because the Idea doesn't make it into the product immediately does not make it a bad idea.
The populating/assessment of Segments during Registration is (IMO) non-value add and should be discontinued. For long running reports registering of reports becomes an arduous task. To make matters worse, this operation often times out, the timeout value for which is unclear, as it does not appear to be based on the datasource or dsw timeout values.
Since segments get re-calculated at report run-time, is there any underlying dependency here that I am not aware of? I doubt it, as my current kludge here is to modify the underlying report view to run quickly (e.g. add a where 1=2) purely for registration purposes.
