All ideas are welcome. Just because the Idea doesn't make it into the product immediately does not make it a bad idea.
When viewing the code of a report it would be great if one choose to edit the text of the view. Many times we just need to make a simple change such as delete, add, or alias a column and it would save a great deal of time compared to the two current alternatives:
1. Switching to SSMS, painstakingly locate the proper view, open, make changes save an then switch back to DSP
2. Copy the entire create statement from DSP, switch to SSMS open new query window, paste, replace "CREATE" with "ALTER", Make changes and execute. I find this much faster than option 1, but having in line edit capabilities would be brilliant.
To be clear I am not asking for a query builder like the one Tom Kennedy was working on a few years back. I am not fond of that Idea. I just want to be able to quickly edit my code while I am reviewing it.
