All ideas are welcome. Just because the Idea doesn't make it into the product immediately does not make it a bad idea.
It seems we generally encourage pass-through views as opposed to directly joining cross db in rules. passthrough views for secondary sources against SRC dbs should have a naming convention similar to target passthrough views Table_DATASOURCE (Actually Table_application for target pass through). This should also apply to MIGRATE tables which are copied to SRCENRICH. So the working database should have a pass through named XTVALUEMAP_ENRICH. The cross reference update rule view should use this passthrough. Currently it is doing a cross db join to the SRCENRICH database
