Due to the increase of cyber security policy and recommendations, we been advised that certain file types should be restricted when uploading files to Stewardship Tier.
A simple interface that can filter or reject files with certain pre-set extensions such as 'zip' or 'rar'. This would be completely discretionary for each organisation or by application if required.
This is commonly performed in our MDM implementations through a combination of the following:
Validations on page to provide error/ warning type message when an unsupported or not allowed file type is uploaded. Preventing the user from finishing their task.
There is a file related plugin in the framework already that can be used to move to delete desired files. i.e. a list of file in a particular folder structure that have an unsupported extension.
Hi,
Both are indeed possible solutions to managing certain file types, however the intended approach is to prevent the upload in the first instance. I've been given some guidance via the support portal to use the server functionality to control file types which is good, however must be managed on the server as opposed to within the application.
Thanks for the suggestion Costas. We'll keep this on the radar and monitor whether we're getting requests for this capability.
