When building tables in collect utilizing the SAP data dictionary we should leverage the DD04L.LOWERCASE Indicator to set case sensitive collation where appropriate.

When building tables in collect utilizing the SAP data dictionary we should leverage the DD04L.LOWERCASE Indicator to set case sensitive collation where appropriate.

Everyone working with SAP (migration, governance, data quality, etc.) will benefit by having the tables and columns built with the optimal collation from the start therefore not having to go though significant effort to fix collation manually as they encounter errors throughout a project.

I suggested to development informally years ago, but it didn't percolate to the top at the time.

In H2 2021, Stewardship Tier users will be able to choose whether a Wave (and associated dg, sdb, and dsw databases) is case sensitive. This will ensure that solutions handle case sensitivity in consistent way throughout. The proposed solution was developed in partnership between Syniti Consulting and Product Management Teams.

I agree. If the data on lower case tables is available this can perfectly be automated.
I just managed the collation issue with value mapping of T002 Table via article https://support.syniti.com/hc/en-us/articles/115014032968. Had to do everything manually and would save time on each project to automate this.

Hi Jeremiah, I know Kurt has done some stuff in the past to accomodate that case sensitivity in dgXXX databases. Also Dan Downey has a PSA he's been finalizing to deal with collation items across the board. It would be worthwhile to reach out to them to see if what they have will help you out.
