All ideas are welcome. Just because the Idea doesn't make it into the product immediately does not make it a bad idea.
All Connection types delivered in DSP should have documentation as to when each connection type is to be used. A 'Comment' and 'Description' column should be added to ztTargetSourceConnectionType and these values should be filled out when delivered.
For instance, ODBCORACLE and ODBCORACLE8 have different columns aliased in field Download_SQL, but both work in my current environment.
Documentation (and possibly validation) should be done against what types of DataSource connections are compatable.
Lastly, if the Driver must match between the Connection String and DSN in DataSources, then the ODBCDriver column should be properly validated to ensure they match when appropriate.
